Almond Zigmund

Born 1971 Brooklyn, New York

My work is concerned with the ways in which economic, political,
and artistic concepts of space and place are manifest and perceived

through the art object. Form, pattern and color are used as art

object within a space, creating a re- contextualized environment and a visceral physical understanding of space, and a more heightened

response to the idea of place. These pieces rethink the monolith

of traditional sculpture integrating themselves into the environment

as they react to and interact with existing architectural structure

recycling quotidian architectural elements and banal materials as

formally and conceptually important subject matter.
